Torrence Again

National Drag Racing Association

AAA Insurance Midwest Nationals

September 21 – 23, 2018

St. Louis, MO

Litton Racing and the Worsham Racing team were off and running once again after a great weekend in Reading, PA. They headed straight to St. Louis for the National Hot Rod Association’s AAA Insurance Midwest Nationals held at the Gateway Motorsports Park on September 21st – 23rd.

Driver Bill Litton with Co-Crew Chiefs Chuck and Del Worsham and crew members James, Todd, Mike, Ray, Kenny, Troy, Glenn and Trey had their focus on achieving their goal of getting a Top Fuel win for the 2018 Mellow Yellow Series.

Driver Litton made his first pass of the weekend in Q3 with a smooth run straight down the groove clocking in 3.92 @ 310 MPH. Things were looking great for the first run of the weekend and the team was feeling confident. “Every race we go out there, there is so much to learn and each race is making the team more comfortable” per Chief Worsham. It was on to the first round of eliminations for Driver Litton and team.

Another race, another match up with heavy weight Steve Torrence. Driver Torrence is the defending event champion and Team Litton knew they would need to pull out all the tricks to get a win. After a great showing in qualifying the Team was hopeful. It was not the normal burn out for the Litton Racing Dragster in E1. An issue with the clutch caused the car to not go into reverse. “Even with a bit of a struggle getting the car pushed back by the crew, Bill got out of the hole well. He stayed calm and was dialed in at the tree,” said Crew member James.

Bill got out of the hole early, but Torrence’s power got him this time and Bill lifted after half-track to save parts. With a solid run to half-track, they couldn’t get Torrence on this run. But the confidence the team gained by persevering through adversity in this race was of great value to Driver Litton and crew. All eyes are on this team as they continue to improve.
Per Driver Litton, “Torrence is the biggest challenge for anyone at the track right now, being the points leader.
This is our third time in a row to face him. He is still on our ‘get list’.”
It’s back to Texas for the Team and they can’t wait to get back in the action for the NHRA Dallas Fall Nationals and the Nitro Outlaws Drag Racing Association’s Series Finale. The Team always looks forward to catching up with all of the Texas Drag Racing Fans.
